Purchase Ledger Clerk

Job description

I am working with a fantastic charitable organisation based on the LS27 (Morley) area of Leeds who are looking to bring a new Purchase ledger Clerk into the team as the current incumbent is retiring after long service.

The position is a perm offering and comes with a variety of additional benefits including Hybrid work patter, flexible working and free parking.

The main responsibilities are listed below:

  • Ensure the monthly payment run is prepared, reviewed, and paid on time each month

  • Ensure any other payments are paid on time and in-line with policy

  • Ensure invoices are processed & approved within the 3-day SLA so the invoices can be paid on time.

  • Review the aged creditors monthly and ensure accounts are reconciled and queries are followed up

  • Provide cover across the team – Purchase Ledger

  • Onboarding new suppliers and administering the Purchase Order system

  • Provide training and advice on purchasing and procurement procedures

  • Administer the Fuel cards, other benefit Cards ensuring correct postings to the accounts

  • Ensure client bills are coded to the client recharge account with VAT where applicable

  • Work closely with the rest of the P2P team in managing queries

  • Ensure all processes are documented and available to other members of the team to ensure business continuity

  • Meet regularly with the Purchase Ledger Manager – P2P to keep them informed of any issues and seek their advice on handling queries or implementing process improvements

  • Providing information for Management Accounts and Auditors when required

  • Statement reconciliation to be done on a regular basis

We would be keen to hear from individual the following skills and experience:

Previous Purchase Ledger experience is essential

  • IT literate (specifically Excel & Microsoft package)

  • Good mathematical ability

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong Customer Service skills & a good communicator

  • Experience working with cross functional teams

  • Professional approach with a level head when under pressure
