Interim Management Accountant

​Sharp Consultancy is delighted to be working with a leading organisation in their search for an interim commercially aware Management Accountant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking business and play a key role in financial reporting, analysis, and governance, working closely with senior finance and operational stakeholders, supporting through a transitional period.

Based at Sheffield site, you will report to the Commercial Finance Manager and work alongside the wider finance team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and providing valuable insights to drive business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end reporting, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements with full ownership of specific sites.

  • Prepare monthly profit and loss accounts and balance sheet reports, including journal entries, GRNI reviews, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.

  • Provide supporting documentation to external auditors as required.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver daily financial KPIs and ensure the finance team is fully aware of P&L performance drivers.

  • Present financial reports and insights at period-end review meetings with the Finance Director.

  • Maintain and enhance financial governance, ensuring adherence to SOPs and implementing new controls where necessary.

  • Assist with raising invoices and resolving customer invoice queries.

  • Identify opportunities for profitability improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Ensure compliance with financial governance policies, audit requirements, and company-wide purchasing and cap-ex procedures.

  • Contribute to ad hoc projects as required.

  • In order to deliver in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Part or fully qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with experience in a similar financial or management accounting role.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify key performance drivers.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with finance and non-finance stakeholders.

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Proactive and commercially astute, with the ability to drive efficiencies and improvements.

  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems.
