An exciting and fast-growing business group, operating across a range of diverse industries, is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to join their dynamic team. The company has experienced impressive growth, fuelled by strategic private equity backing, and is now entering the next phase of its 10-year business plan. With a strong focus on capitalising on market opportunities and significantly increasing revenue, this is a pivotal time to join.

To support this ambitious growth, the business is looking to appoint an Assistant Financial Controller to work closely with the Financial Controller and Group Finance Director. This position plays a vital role in driving profitability and delivering commercial value through insightful financial planning and analysis.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, analysing performance against budget.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the group during month-end and key seasonal cycles.

  • Manage audit schedules and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors.

  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and investigating variances.

  • Prepare accruals and prepayments.

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate monthly intercompany reconciliations.

  • Partner with the Finance Director and Managing Director to enhance commercial insights and drive profitability.

  • Support senior leadership in assessing new business opportunities aligned with growth objectives.

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior finance team members, building your leadership capabilities.

  • Maintain fixed asset registers and post monthly depreciation for business units.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of accounting processes and controls.

I deal Candidate Profile:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).

  • Experience in audit or financial accounting within a professional services firm, or strong technical accounting/management accounting experience within a fast-paced, high-growth business.

  • Ambitious and career-driven, with aspirations to progress to Financial Controller and beyond.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ACA-qualified accountant seeking their first move into industry, or a CIMA/ACCA accountant looking to step into a more commercially focused role with a clear progression path to Financial Controller.
