Systems Accountant

We are excited to be recruiting a Systems Accountant for a market leading environmental services organisation based in Pontefract. This is a newly created role to bridge the gap between finance and IT, ensuring our financial systems and processes are robust, efficient, and support strategic decision-making. Working closely with cross-functional teams to implement, enhance, and maintain our financial systems while providing insightful data analysis to drive performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with a wide range or ERP systems and a strong understanding of Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (OTC) processes. The successful candidate will support the delivery of accurate and timely consolidation financial data and the maintenance of data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing management of financial and ERP systems, ensuring alignment with business needs.

  • Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities.

  • Develop, test, and deploy system upgrades and new functionalities.

  • Provide training and support to staff on system use and best practices.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards through system configuration.

  • Analyse financial data to generate actionable insights and support strategic planning.

  • Act as the key liaison between finance, IT, and external software providers.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience;

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification (or equivalent).

  • Proven experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, and process automation.

  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
