Group Accountant

Job description

Our client is a well-established manufacturer based in Goole looking for an up-and-coming Group Financial Accountant to join on a permanent basis. This business has ties into FMCG, Food & Drink and E-Commerce with a focus on sustainability through the means of Carbon Control and Green Energy Production. This business are well-versed in efficient environmental practices.

The position of Group Financial Accountant has been engineered to report into an established Head of Finance whilst taking full responsibility of a single business entity, turning over ~£30mn annually. The role will support a team of 2 transactional colleagues also – providing a stepping-stone into day-to-day line management.

The main duties of this position will predominantly include the full production of management accounts and group statutory accounts, as well as the full preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans.

 

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Production of consolidated monthly management accounts including variance analysis and commentary

  • Maintenance of fixed asset register and capital expenditure for multiple business sites

  • Management of group cashflow processes to ensure operational objectives are met

  • Completion of all intercompany account reconciliations

  • Production of annual budgets and business plans

  • Creation of monthly forecast and responsibility for quarterly forecasting process – reporting on variances for board members and other senior stakeholders

  • Management of group working capital with focus on stock, debtors and cash balances

  • Pursuit of cost-reduction initiatives and management of overheads

  • Consistent review of internal financial controls and processes – updating where needed

  • Responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts including review of journal and GL balances

  • Automate and streamline group accounting functions and financial systems where needed

  • Full production of group statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting principles and legislation

Person Specification:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA Qualified

  • Recent manufacturing experience
