Financial Controller

Job description

​We’re seeking a Financial Controller to join a £40m t/o manufacturing business near Leeds city centre. This newly created role due an exciting period of growth in the business and will support expanding operations and report directly to the Finance Director. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the timely and accurate production of management and financial accounts and contribute to ongoing financial reporting initiatives. This opportunity is ideal for a finance professional looking to join a fast-paced SME business who are on an exciting growth journey. You will be part of a supportive team and reporting to an FD willing to support your personal career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Finance Director and leading a team finance team of 5.

  • Prepare, analyse, and review monthly management and financial accounts, including accurate balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, payroll with commentary.

  • Ownership and improvement of internal controls and processes.

  • Daily cash management and cashflow forecasting.

  • Oversee sales ledger and purchase ledger ensuring accurate processing within agreed timescales.

  • Statutory accounting.

  • Support the external audit process managing relationships with stakeholders.

  • Drive process improvements and encourage automation.

  • Management of Tax preparation.

  • Lead ad hoc projects to enhance the Financial Control framework.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CIMA, ACA, ACCA Qualified or QBE.

  • Strong technical accounting skills, preferably within a fast-paced SME environment.

  • Excellent analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail in financial reporting and compliance.

  • Strong communicator, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems, consolidation, or accounts preparation software.
