Plant accountant

Job description

We are currently recruiting a Plant Accountant for a leading Engineering business in Wakefield. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Plant Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the manufacturing facility. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, and cost analysis to ensure the plant operates efficiently and meets its financial goals. The Plant Accountant will work closely with other departments to provide accurate financial information and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
* Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
* Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
* Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
* Identify areas of financial risk and opportunities for cost savings.
* Maintain and analyse standard costs for products and processes.
* Conduct cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
* Support inventory valuation and management.
* Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies.
* Participate in internal and external audits.
* Implement improvements to financial processes and controls.
* Collaborate with production and operations teams to analyse financial performance.
* Provide financial insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
* Assist in capital expenditure planning and analysis.
* Utilise ERP systems to gather and analyse financial data.
* Develop and maintain financial models and reports.
* Support ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests

Ideally will be able to demonstrate the below experience;

* CIMA OR ACCA Qualified.
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
* Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
