Financial Controller

Job description

​We are partnering with an award-winning SME construction business to support in their search for a qualified financial controller. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role will oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, and will play a crucial role in financial planning and analysis. This position demands a deep understanding of financial principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing financial teams, implementing robust financial controls, and driving continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards.

  • Provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions.

  • Manage and lead the financial team, driving performance and efficiency.

  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls.

  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve overall organisational goals.

  • Drive continuous process improvements within the finance function.

Ideally will be able to demonstrate the below experience;

  • Extensive experience in financial management, preferably within an SME.

  • Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.

  • Track record of implementing financial controls and driving process improvements.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment.
